Many families make lifelong friends from their involvement in Nippers and enjoy the social activities provided.
The 2015/16 Junior Activities Information booklet and most commonly asked questions by families about our program.
What do we do at Nippers - Our Summer Holiday Nipper program caters for children aged 6 (as at midnight 30/9/2015) to 13 and includes developing surf awareness and surf education while learning skills on the beach and in the water.
The nippers program, which is coordinated at a national level, comprises four components: Surf awareness, surf skills, lifesaving skills and competition. Children are allocated to their age groups (age taken as at midnight on the 30th of September) and an age-appropriate program is provided which includes surf education and practical activities.
What should I bring to nippers? - It is the responsibility of parents to ensure Nippers are Sun Smart and well hydrated while on the beach. It is compulsory that nippers wear their pink rash vests and age group cap during sessions.
Bathers, pink rash vest, swimming goggles, wet suit, towel, hat, sunscreen, drink bottle and warm clothes are necessary items to bring along to each nipper session
Where will Nippers be held? - Nipper Summer Holiday Program and competition training is usually held at the main surf beach in front of the club. If this changes to Cosy Corner due to inclement weather, notification will be provided via email, text and also will be posted at the entrance to the club car park.
Safety - As you will appreciate with our program being run by parent volunteers, we do not provide a "Swim School" program. Safety is most important. We always need parents who can act as water safety officers and if you have your Bronze Medallion or would like to qualify, we organise parent bronze groups through the summer, which are always well supported and a lot of fun.
Interested in competition? Check out the surf sports section of the website. Look under 'nippers'.
All enquiries can be addressed to EMAIL where we will be more than happy to answer any of your questions.
